| About
The S & J Experience: |
| Ok,
hang in there for the US-Canada-Greece Express:
Steve Vassilakopoulos
was born in Thessaloniki, moved to and grew
up in Toronto and then returned to Thessaloniki
as an adult. Jay Schwartz
was born and grew up in Miami, moved around
the US for a bit and then moved to Thessaloniki.
Sharing similar work backgrounds (humanistic
based English teachers and teacher trainers),
they eventually crossed professional paths
and discovered they also both played guitar
and shared a passion for music and song writing.
They began to collaborate together both professionally
and musically and "the
S & J Experience" was born.
|
| Teaming
up for numerous "long night into morning"
jam sessions, they began to blend their eclectic
musical influences and guitar skills. Soon,
they began to gig publicly at a number of
local "holiday party" events and
teaching conferences (most notably the ELTzone
organized "Anti-Conference" in 2005).
Originally they played a diverse set of their
own tweaked covers of 60s and 70s rock classics. |
| In
2006, under the group name "Sudden Breeze",
they briefly played a number of gigs, along
with Madaline Stangas (who also sings some
background vocals on the S & J Experience
"Disambiguation" CD). This year
would also see an increase of recording projects
they collaborated on for their full time teaching
careers. |
| In
2007, Steve and Jay decided to produce a CD
as a demo of their most publicly performed
pieces. However, the early recording sessions
eventually gave way to a decision to release
a CD of original music they had written and
would produce themselves, for the most part
acoustically performed. The resulting CD titled
"Disambiguation"
was released in 2008. Their first "single"
release. "The Vagabond Life", have
them sharing lead vocals. |
| Always
the humanistic teachers, Steve and Jay hoped
that their attempt to "home produce"
their own work will inspire other aspiring
musicians and song writers to do the same,
bringing more and more music into the world. |
