Although we are based in Thessaloniki, Greece our network of affiliates and research projects extend both nationally and internationally. Because of the range of activities and services we are involved in, our network is very much 'on the road' and do not support the support the costs of maintaining an office at this time. This of course means that we are able to provide as goodwill some services at to the public at no charge. The network is supported by our internet website. Our special events and teacher training seminars are held in public facilities, supporting institutions, affiliate premises, or 'in-house' at contracting private schools or institutions.

What is the Action Research Network Project?

This is a goodwill project to promote reflective teaching practices at both the personal and community level. The project is open to the public and is supported through the ELTzone website. It is hoped that by providing EFL teachers with a framework for and guidance on conducting action research in their own classes, they will in turn share their findings with their colleagues. The project will begin in February 2005 and all the necessary forms and information for participation will be available on the ELTzone website at that time.

What is the Quality Assurance & Inspection Service?

Quality has been a controversial topic lately in our field. Unfortunately, the commitment to providing quality of services has become synonymous with the purchase of certain products or the membership in various exclusive organizations. Beginning in January 2005, ELTzone Network Affiliates will provide a truly independent quality assurance and inspection service design to reflect the conditions of the local market. The service will be open to all education-related institutions regardless of their existing affiliation. Additionally, to support the promotion of achievable quality and free access, the entire inspection scheme and guide for improving the quality of services in your school, will be publicly available on the ELTzone website. The fee for the inspection will cover the inspectors' time and administrative costs. Please see our website in February 2005 for further information on this service and the requirements for becoming a member of the inspection team.
