Methodology: From Theory to Practice (45 hours) |
| This
general methodology course is designed for individuals with
no previous experience in teaching English as a foreign language.
It is also useful for experienced teachers with no formal training
in English Language Teaching (ELT) who desire to improve not
only their skills but also effectiveness in the classroom. This
basic methodology course is especially useful for teachers on
exam courses who have grown too coursebook dependent or who
are tired of testing rather than teaching. This is a comprehensive
course and is useful to both teachers of adults and young learners.
Humanistic and "hands-on" experiential approaches to learning
are utilized in this course and are also represented in elements
of teaching approaches suggested by the course leaders. All
materials are included in the course fee and will be provided
at beginning of the course. Upon conclusion, a TEFL certificate
of completion and letter of reference will be provided to all
participants. |

of Studies Seminar: (6 hours) |
| This
seminar is exclusively designed for teachers who are working
in the roles of "directors of studies" or "level co-ordinators".
This practical seminar covers areas such as effective classroom
observation, syllabus design and curriculum statements, as well
as motivating and managing staff. Special emphasis is given
to understanding and implementing quality management schemes.
This seminar is a must for anyone desiring to improve their
EFL management skills as well as to improve their career prospects.

Cram Survival Skills Seminar (For Teachers) (4 hours) |
| An
up to date review of the latest strategies and skills students
need for success on local certificate exams. Coverage is given
to all sections of the examinations. Teachers will benefit from
time saving tips for incorporating exam focus tasks into their
regular coursework and using test material for teaching purposes.
Practical tips for overcoming "test stress" are also discussed.
This seminar covers both B2 and C1 level examinations. If you've

on what to effectively concentrate on and expect when taking
proficiency type examinations. Special emphasis is given to
helping students come to terms with the examiner's expectations
and mindset when assessing the oral and written sections of
the exams. |

Sentence Structure & Syntax for Teachers (6 hours) |

teaching sentence structure and syntax. This is an experiential

seminar helps students discover how grammar can be learned inductively
as a "top-down" learning process through texts, tasks and writing

Awareness & Discourse Analysis: (6 hours) |
| This
seminar will help teachers understand the underlying processes
of the English Language. Emphasis is given to fostering an awareness
of how grammar, phonology, and discourse are all interrelated
in the use of English in both spoken and written contexts. This
course will help teachers maximize their use of coursebooks,
skills books and authentic material. This seminar is presented
